These BSCs maintain a minimum average airflow velocity of 100 feet per minute (fpm) through the sash opening and require a dedicated exhaust system and remote blower for each cabinet. Type B2 BSCs draw HEPA-filtered downflow air from the laboratory and exhaust all inflow and downflow air into the atmosphere after HEPA filtration. This design makes these cabinets suitable for work involving volatile chemicals as an adjunct to microbiological applications.
